Our Story
Synoptic was established in 2013 by Co-Founders and brothers Paul and David O'Farrell both of whom had been working in the Irish Corporate Telecoms Sector since deregulation in the mid-1990s.
After careers spanning almost 20 years where they worked for Domestic and Global Tier 1 telecoms operators, they saw a gap in the market for an independent provider of high-grade business telecoms solutions, the company has since deployed numerous critical networks for clients both nationwide and internationally.
Synoptic has gone on to build a strong network of partners which enables us to determine the most cost-effective, innovative, and future-proofed solutions available to our clients. The key focus is building a strong and dependable relationship with our end customer and play a consultative role in any current or future requirements they may have.
Paul O’Farrell
Paul has over 20 years’ experience as a senior sales consultant in the telecommunications industry. He began his career as an account manager with WorldCom (Verizon) in 1994 and became Director of the MCIWorldCom VAR channel in 1998. In this role he developed relationships with many switchless resellers and a host of international telecommunications operators.
In 2004 Paul joined the corporate sales team at Smart Telecom and developed the wholesale channel which concentrated on developing new business from the newly developed Government financed MAN’s (metropolitan area networks). In 2009 he joined euNetworks in an account director’s role. Paul now brings this wealth of experience to his current role as senior consultant with Synoptic Communications.
David O’Farrell
David began his career in the Telecommunications industry as a technical engineer in 1995 with WorldCom Ireland, after qualifying from DIT Kevin Street in telecoms engineering he held the position of Field Engineering Manager for 6 years.
Subsequently David moved into the position of Senior Enterprise Account Manager within WorldCom (Verizon) and managed a number of the organisations key global and national accounts.
After 10 years with WorldCom (Verizon) David joined the Smart Telecom/Digiweb Group where he excelled in the roles of National Sales Manager & Wholesale Director for an 8 year period. David has now accumulated 20 years’ experience within the Irish telecoms sector and has vast experience at all levels of the industry in Ireland.
Rod Walsh
Rod has over 20 years’ experience delivering complex IT solutions for his customers in the corporate and enterprise sectors. Rod began his career with Smarttelecom where he spent 8 years learning and developing his knowledge and understanding of telecoms infrastructure and networks, during this time Rod developed relationships and strategic partnerships within the IT business community.
Rod then brought his skill set to an indigenous Irish Start up, Host Ireland Business Broadband, where he spent 10 years growing and developing new business which assisted the company to become one of the largest Fixed Wireless Broadband providers in Ireland.
Rod spent 5 years as Head of Sales and was part of the senior management team responsible for the recent acquisition of the business by a UK investment and infrastructure fund.
In January 2022 Rod joined his former colleagues, Paul and Dave O’Farrell and the team at Synoptic, Rod’s experience and industry knowledge will greatly assist
Synoptic to increase and develop its impressive customer base, both directly and through their valuable IT partner companies.
